Fine Art in The Valley of Fire

Join me for a beautiful sunrise workshop/shootout in the awe inspiring Valley of Fire on Friday, March 14th!

My specialty is fine art nudes in nature in beautiful locations around the world. I photographed my team at the Valley of Fire (in the photos you see on this page) in 2022, and fell in love. I can’t wait to help you create your own stunning images here too! We will go as a group to VOF, which is an hour northeast of Las Vegas, just 2 days before WPPI begins. We are leaving before sunrise so we arrive right as the light starts peeking over the horizon, and so we have the most privacy! I will teach you some of my techniques, posing, etiquette, and more. We will be working with two professional art models who work outside regularly so you get the most out of your experience. I prefer a small group size so everyone has the best experience, so only 6 spots are available!

  • Date: Friday, March 14th, leaving Rio Hotel at 5:30am. Arriving back in Las Vegas around 11am

  • Cost: $650

  • Transportation: Provided leaving from Rio Hotel

  • What: Fine art nudes in the textured rock formations of The Valley of Fire with 2 models. Posing, safety, etiquette, and lighting explanations will be provided in the beginning of the shoot. We will go to 2-3 locations depending on light, weather, and other tourists. A fabulous way to get out of the studio, out of your comfort zone, and create beautiful images for your portfolio!

F.A.Q.

Q: How much hiking will there be? A: Not too much! We will keep the hiking to under 1/2 mile each way. But bring sturdy shoes! We will be shooting on big rocks!

Q: What if it rains or is really cold? A: That is part of the challenge of shooting outdoors! We go in almost any condition as long as it’s safe! Bring a poncho/ rain jacket, and get a cover for your camera. It’s always a good idea to have a silica pack in your camera bag anyways.

Q: What gear should I bring? A: Your main camera body and a backup, with plenty of charged batteries and memory cards. A zoom lens like a 24-70mm (or 24-105) f/2.8 is ideal so you don’t have to move yourself too much and risk falling on the rocks. A prime lens will be difficult to use in this setting.

Q: Can I bring a friend? A: Not as a guest. Each person attending the class must have a paid ticket and participate as a photographer.

Q: Can I drive in my own car behind the group? A: Yes! That is not a problem! It won’t change the price of your ticket, but you’re welcome to have your own car.

Q: Are you providing drinks or snacks? A: No, please bring your own water bottle and small snacks that can fit in your camera bag.

Q: Can I bring studio/ artificial lighting? A: No, please leave those at the hotel. We will utilize natural light, and will have a small reflector. We travel as simply as possible to avoid attracting too much attention, and to avoid damaging the nature around us.
Q: Will the models wear any clothes or lingerie? A: We may bring some sheer fabrics, and very minimalist bodysuits but it will primarily be fine art nudes. (this isn’t your standard flying dress shoot)

Q: Will I have an opportunity to be photographed by another attendee? A: This is up to you! You are welcome to go to another area in our location (within ear shot) to photograph each other as long as you are not interfering with the other attendees’ learning and photos. There will not be time set aside for this specifically though. If this is of interest to you, you might consider driving separately or going back another day.
