Women’s Portrait Foundations Workshop

Learn hands-on in Tamara’s stunning studio to gain the foundation skills you need to have consistently successful photoshoots with happy clients.

I have run a busy & profitable boudoir & portrait photography studio for 15 years, and the thing I hear most from my clients is that they are so surprised at how easy their shoot was. I love instructing my clients head to toe, making them feel incredible in their bodies. I’m excited to give you the tools you need to photograph women and flow more easily through your photoshoots.

• What you will learn: 1. Camera settings for high-end portaits 2. Posing & body movement 3. Wording used to instruct your client 4. Lighting techniques in natural light and studio lights 5. Coaching facial expressions

• Who is this workshop for?: Beginner portrait photographers who have a basic understanding of their cameras on manual settings.

• Model: Amanda Kee. Amanda is a professional model, and has worked for me as a photo retoucher for 6 years.

• The look: The styling will be elevated & timeless glamour using dresses, and possibly a suit. This workshop is not for boudoir and we will not use lingerie.

• Gear needed: A DSLR or Mirrorless professional quality camera- “point & shoot” cameras not permitted. A portrait lens or two- preferably a length between 35-50mm, that goes down to aperture f/2.8 or lower. Prime (fixed length) or zoom are both fine. Please bring a notebook & pen for notes. You will not need any lighting equipment, as everything will be provided.

F.A.Q.

Q: Is it ok if I’ve never worked with a paying client before? A: Yes! This is the perfect intro course for you. I will help you get comfortable instructing the woman in front of your lens.

Q: What gear should I bring? A: Your main camera body and a backup if you have one, with plenty of charged batteries and memory cards. A zoom lens like a 24-70mm f/2.8, or prime lenses like 50mm or 35mm f/1.2 or f/2.8 are ideal. Please make sure you understand your camera’s focus settings and where to access your camera settings like shutter, f/stop, ISO, and kelvin color.

Q: Can male photographers attend? A: Yes of course! Anyone over the age of 18 years old is welcome. Since the studio is primarily boudoir, we cannot permit anyone under 18.

Q: Can I bring a friend? A: Not as a guest. Each person attending the class must have a paid ticket and participate as a photographer.

Q: Are you providing drinks or snacks? A: We will have water and some small snacks available.

Q: Can I bring studio/ artificial lighting? A: No, please leave those at home. Studio lighting and reflectors are provided.

Q: Will the model wear any lingerie? A: No, this will be a portrait class using a dress

Q: Is there plenty of parking? A: Yes! We have a large private parking lot. The gate code will be given to attendees 2 days before the workshop.
